What is Casa Signora?

Casa Signora is an owner-occupied shared home in Salt Lake City, Utah offering furnished rooms for extended stays. It’s designed for people who want something quieter, more intentional, and more personal than a traditional rental or short-term stay.

This is a home first — not a party house, not a co-living experiment, and not a hotel.

Who lives at the house?

When in town, the homeowner (Sean) lives on-site. There is also a very senior dachshund named Hansel who lives here full time.

The house typically has two roommates at a time, each renting an individual room.

Is Casa Signora LGBTQ+ friendly?

Yes — explicitly. Casa Signora is an LGBTQ+ affirming home and works best for people who value inclusivity, respect, and emotional maturity.

What kind of roommate are you looking for?

The best fit is someone who:

• Lives lightly (not a lot of stuff)

• Values calm, clean shared spaces

• Communicates clearly and respectfully

• Is comfortable sharing a home

• Enjoys a slower, quieter environment

• Is open to light gardening in the spring

This isn’t about rules — it’s about alignment.

Are pets allowed?

No additional pets, please.

Hansel, the resident dachshund, is 16 years old and prefers to remain the only animal in the home.

Are the rooms furnished?

Yes. All rooms are furnished with beds and essential furniture. You’re welcome to bring personal items, but the house is best suited for people who don’t need to move in large amounts of furniture or belongings.

How long can I stay?

Rentals are month-to-month.

Typical stays range from 1–6 months, though longer stays may be considered if it’s a good mutual fit.

What’s included in rent?

Rent includes:

• Furnished room including bedding

• Utilities

• Internet

• Shared use of all common areas

• Laundry access in the basement

There are no surprise fees.

Is the house quiet?

Yes — intentionally.

Casa Signora is best for people who:

• Travel and want a place to rest your head

• Are in Salt Lake City for work temporarily

• Prefer calm evenings

• Respect sleep and downtime

Occasional guests are fine, but this is not a hosting-heavy or nightlife-oriented home.

Can I work from home here?

There is a work station set up in the living room.  You may work remotely from Casa Signora.

Shared spaces are used thoughtfully, and each room provides a quiet place to focus.

How does the bathroom situation work?

There is one main-floor bathroom shared between the two rented rooms.

It’s clean, updated, and treated with respect by everyone in the house.

The master suite (basement) has a second bathroom that Sean will use while he's in town so the main floor bathroom is only for tenants.

Is parking available?

Yes — street parking is available and generally easy.  There is a driveway available most of the time - Sean parks his vehicle in the garage but drives rarely.

Is the house close to transit or downtown?

Casa Signora is located in Rose Park with convenient access to downtown Salt Lake City, I-15, and nearby amenities.  It's near the bus lines and TRAX Green Line.

Details and directions can be shared after an initial match.

What’s expected around cleaning?

Everyone contributes to keeping shared spaces tidy:

• Clean as you go

• Respect shared surfaces

• Pitch in with light shared chores

This is a cooperative household, not a cleaning-service dynamic.  On occasion, outside help may be hired.

What about the backyard and gardening?

The backyard is shared and will be developed into a garden space in the spring. Interest in light gardening is a plus, though no experience is required.

How do I apply?

Start by completing the Roommate Match Form.

If it feels like a good fit, we’ll follow up to discuss availability, timing, and next steps.

Can I tour the house?

Yes — virtual or in-person tours are available after an initial match.

What if it’s not the right fit after I move in?

Because rentals are month-to-month, flexibility is built in for both sides. Clear communication is always preferred.
